ABOUT THE ASSOCIATION
Mission
The
YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is a membership association of men, women.
As part of the worldwide YMCA movement and as stated in our constitution, the mission of this association is to foster the spiritual, mental and physical development of individuals, families and
communities according to the ideals of inclusiveness, equality and mutual respect
for all. The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is open to all people, regardless of race, creed, color, religion, national origin, gender, age or handicapping
condition.
Goals
The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington offers men, women, boys, and girls experiences that:

Develop self-confidence and self-respect;

Develop an active sense of personal responsibility;

Encourage the achievement of physical and spiritual well-being;

Promote interracial, intergroup, and ecumenical harmony;

Children are growing up in a complex world and experiencing complex emotional issues. The YMCA provides opportunities for children to be children and fosters them through youth development, child care, wellness, sports and recreational programs that help children to grow up healthy.
THE YMCA:

provides safe places for kids where conflict resolution and social skills are taught and practiced;

The YMCA offers programs that bring parents and children together, giving families a chance to strengthen their relationships in a safe, caring, and welcoming environment.

responds to the child care needs of working parents by offering affordable services including infant, preschool and school-age child care, before-and-after-school care, plus a wide variety of summer camps;

provides meaningful opportunities for parent support with formal and informal experiences;
